Step #1 – Deciding What to Create
The infoproduct you create should be something that people want, not what you want. This is a common mistake that beginners make. They have an untested idea and they go ahead and create the product thinking that everyone will want it.
When they do launch it… it’s nothing but crickets.
The product is not needed in the market. If you’re a beginner when it comes to creating infoproducts, DO NOT reinvent the wheel. Look at what is selling well in your niche.
If keto recipe books are selling well, you’ll want to create your own. If video training on how to increase one’s flexibility and achieve the splits is selling thousands of copies, you’ll want to create your own.
Look at what’s selling well in your niche and get ideas from there.
Step #2 – Order the Ecover
You know what they say, “Never judge a book by its cover.”
Well, this is another proverb that no one follows. Most people judge a book by its cover.
Even if it’s digital product, you’ll want to have a mock-up cover made for it. Just having an attractive product image will help to increase conversions and get more sales.
The image will give the digital product a tangible feel to it. People are used to buying and holding digital products. So, some of them may be hesitant when it comes to buying a digital product.
Having a cover image will help them feel more comfortable buying your digital product, even if it’s all in their mind.
If you have no graphic design skills, you’ll want to avoid designing your own cover. You can spend hours designing a cover only for it to look amateurish and repelling. It’s best to hire a professional to design a cover for you.

Step #3 – Creating Your Infoproduct
The next step will be creating your product. That’s a course all on its own.
But the general idea is that you’ll either be writing the content for your ebook or recording the videos, if it’s a video training.
Whatever the case may be, you want to do the best job you can. In this way, your customers will be satisfied and will become repeat buyers.

If you’re recording tutorial videos, tools like Camtasia or Screencast-O-Matic will help you record your videos easily and you can turn them into mp4s.
Step #4 – Creating the Sales Page
You need a page builder for this. Don’t even think twice about it.
If you’re on a budget, page builders such as OptimizePress and Thrive Architect are great, since they come with a one-time fee (though you could pay an annual fee for support).
The downside to the cheaper page builders will be that you need to connect the sales pages (front end, upgrades, etc) yourself. It’s a little bit techy, but not too much. Once you understand how to do it, you’ll realize it’s actually easy and you’ll be saving a ton in monthly fees.
On the other hand, there are funnel builders such as ClickFunnels, GrooveFunnels, etc. which have a monthly fee which can be relatively high for the budget-conscious newbie. The advantage here is that building a funnel is extremely easy with these funnel builders.
Whatever the case, you’ll need one of them to create your sales pages.
Step #5 – Adding the Buy Button
Now that your sales pages are ready, it’s time to add the buy button.
You can use a marketing automation platform such as Thrivecart or WarriorPlus to create buy buttons/order pages to sell your offer. Alternatively, you may choose to sell your product in a marketplace like Gumroad.
Beginner marketers on a tight budget may prefer Gumroad because they won’t need a page builder and can just add the sales copy in Gumroad and let it process the sales for a small percentage of the product.
There are lots of options here. You just need to find one that works for you.
Step #6 – Adding Customers to Your Email List
This is so important it should NEVER be neglected. No matter how budget-conscious you are, you absolutely MUST have an autoresponder when you’re selling your product.
This will allow you to add customers to your email list. A list of buyers is a crucial asset that will help you get repeat sales and so on in future. If you can’t afford an autoresponder at the moment, it’s better to save up for one first before launching your product.
Once you have enough to pay for about 2 months of service, you can sign up for a 1-month free trial and leverage it for your first product launch. If all goes well, the sales from your infoproduct will allow you to easily pay for your autoresponder.
It’s really not that expensive. Most reputable autoresponders are anywhere from $15 to $40 a month, depending on the size of your list.
Connect up your autoresponder with your buy buttons and all so that anyone who buys your product is automatically added to your list.
Step #7 – Pop Ups
You’ll want to add an exit intent pop up such as Thrive Leads on your sales page. Not everyone who sees your offer will quickly buy it. So, you’ll want to at least give them the opportunity to sign up to your list.
Offer the first 2 chapters free or give them a ‘bribe’ in the form of a lead magnet. Once they sign up to your list, you can remarket to them and persuade them to buy your product. Some people need to see the same offer several times before they buy it.
Step #8 – Launch Your Product
Once your product is done and the sales pages and integrations are ready, it’s time to launch it.
You can either drive traffic to your offer using paid ads or you could go the free route and do so with video marketing, Facebook groups and so on.
Another effective way to get sales will be to recruit affiliates so that they can promote your product for you in return for a commission. Generally, most vendors offer affiliates 50% to 75% commissions for digital products.
If you’re a beginner, that might seem like a lot. But don’t worry. You’ll be making some money while building your customer list (priceless). If you have upgrades in place, you can make more money from the funnel. If you have a backend offer, you can still make good money even if your affiliates take more than half of your front end sale.
Other points to note…
To increase conversions, you should add scarcity to your sales page. You can do this either by limiting copies of your product (though some people may laugh at the idea of limited copies of a digital product)…
Or you could have a dime sale for your launch where the price keeps rising with each purchase. This will motivate potential customers to quickly buy the product instead of waiting – because the longer they wait, the more expensive the product will become.
Last but not least, you can close the offer after a fixed number of days (once the launch ends)… or you can double the price of the offer permanently after the launch.
By informing potential buyers of this impending lack of availability or jump in price, you’ll get the fence sitters and the reluctant visitors to take action and buy your product.
Delivering an ebook is pretty straightforward. You’ll just add a link to the zip file for the customer to download.
However, what if you had a video training course that had multiple modules and so on. Delivering such a product will mean having a learning management system (LMS) such as Teachable or Kajabi.
This will not only make everything look professional, but your customers will also find it easier to consume the course in a step-by-step manner. Teachable, Kajabi and several other LMS platforms charge a monthly/annual fee.
If you don’t wish to spend on a LMS because you’re just starting out, that’s understandable. You can just use Thrive Apprentice. It provides similar functionality on a smaller scale. Nevertheless, it’s just as effective.
